You must not use this medicine if you are allergic to posaconazole or similar antifungals such as clotrimazole (Mycelex Troche), fluconazole (Diflucan), itraconazole (Sporanox), ketoconazole (Nizoral), miconazole (Oravig, Monistat), voriconazole (Vfend), and others.
You must not take posaconazole together with cimetidine (Tagamet), phenytoin (Dilantin), pimozide (Orap), quinidine (Quin-G), rifabutin (Mycobutin), sirolimus (Rapamune), atorvastatin (Lipitor, Caduet), lovastatin (Mevacor, Altoprev, Advicor), simvastatin (Zocor, Simcor, Vytorin, Juvisync), or an ergot medication such as ergotamine (Ergomar), dihydroergotamine (D.H.E. 45, Migranal Nasal Spray), ergonovine (Ergotrate), or methylergonovine (Methergine).
Take this medication for the full predesigned length of time. Your symptoms may improve till the infection is completely cleared. Skipping doses may also magnify your risk of further infection that is resistant to antibiotics. Posaconazole will not treat a viral infection such as the general cool or flu.
Call your doctor if you have ongoing vomiting or diarrhea. Posaconazole may not work as well while during this time.
Posaconazole is an antifungal medicine that fights determined infections caused by fungus.
Posaconazole is used to prevent fungal infections in people with weak immune systems resulting from determined treatments or conditions (such as chemotherapy, stem cell transplantation, HIV infection, and others).
Posaconazole is also used to treat oral thrush (yeast infection of the mouth).
Posaconazole may also be used for purposes not listed in this medicine guide.

Many drugs can interact with posaconazole and some must not be used at the same time. Speak your doctor about all another medications you use, especially:

To create certain you can safely take posaconazole, speak your doctor if you have any of these another conditions:
· a private or family history of Long QT syndrome;
· liver malady; or
· a heart rhythm disorder.
FDA pregnancy category C. It is not known whether posaconazole will harm an unborn child. Speak your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant while using this medication.
It is not known whether posaconazole passes into breast milk or if it could harm a nursing child. You must not breast-feed while you are using posaconazole.
Do not give this medicine to a baby younger than 13 years old.
Take exactly as predesigned by your doctor. Do not take in larger or less amounts or for longer than recommended. Follow the directions on your prescription label.
Posaconazole works excellent if you take it within 20 minutes after a full meal or a nutritional supplement (such as Ensure).
Shake the oral suspension (liquid) well just till you measure a doze. Measure the liquid with a particular dose-measuring spoon or medication cup, not with a regular table spoon. If you do not have a dose-measuring device, ask your pharmacist for one.
Call your doctor if you have ongoing vomiting or diarrhea. Posaconazole may not work as well while during this time.
To be certain this medicine is not causing deleterious effects, your blood may need to be tested often. Your liver function may also need to be tested. Visit your doctor regularly.

Store at room temperature away from moisture and heat. Do not freeze. Hold the bottle tightly closed when not in use.
Take the missed doze as soon as you remember. Skip the missed doze if it is nearly time for your following scheduled doze. Do not take extra medication to create up the missed dose.

Follow your doctor's instructions about any restrictions on food, beverages, or activity.
Get abnormal medical help if you have any of these signs of an allergic reaction: hives; difficulty breathing; swelling of your person, lips, tongue, or throat.
Call your doctor at once if you have a serious side effect such as:
· headache with chest pain and severe dizziness, fainting, quick or pounding heartbeats;
· slow heartbeats;
· signs of an infection such as fever, chills, sore throat, flu symptoms, vomiting, mouth sores;
· pale skin, light bruising or bleeding, feeling light-headed or short of breath, rapid heart course, trouble concentrating;
· low potassium (confusion, uneven heart course, extreme thirst, heighten urination, leg discomfort, muscle weakness or limp feeling);
· feeling like you might pass out;
· nausea, upper stomach pain, itching, loss of appetite, dark urine, clay-colored stools, jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes); or
· dangerously tall blood pressure (severe headache, blurred vision, buzzing in your ears, anxiety, chest pain, shortness of breath, seizure).
Smaller serious side effects may include:
· mild headache, dizziness;
· weary feeling
· swelling of your ankles or feet;
· diarrhea, constipation, stomach pain;
· joint or muscle pain; or
· sleep problems (insomnia).

· cyclosporine (Neoral, Sandimmune, Gengraf);
· digoxin (digitalis, Lanoxin);
· esomeprazole (Nexium);
· glipizide (Glucotrol, Metaglip);
· metoclopramide (Reglan, Metozolv);
· tacrolimus (Prograf);
· an antibiotic such as azithromycin (Zithromax, Zmax, Z-Pack), clarithromycin (Biaxin), erythromycin (E.E.S., EryPed, Ery-Tab, Erythrocin, Pediazole), levofloxacin (Levaquin), moxifloxacin (Avelox), or pentamidine (NebuPent, Pentam);
· an antidepressant;
· cancer medicines such as vinblastine (Velban), vincristine (Oncovin, Vincasar), vindesine (Eldisine), or vinorelbine (Navelbine);
· cholesterol lowering medicine such as fluvastatin (Lescol), pitavastatin (Livalo), pravastatin (Pravachol), or rosuvastatin (Crestor);
· heart or blood pressure medication such as amlodipine (Norvasc, Caduet, Exforge, Lotrel, Tekamlo, Tribenzor, Twynsta, Amturnide), diltiazem (Cardizem, Cartia, Dilacor, Diltia, Diltzac, Taztia, Tiazac), felodipine (Plendil), nicardipine (Cardene), nifedipine (Nifedical, Procardia), verapamil (Calan, Covera, Isoptin, Verelan, Tarka), and others;
· heart rhythm medicine such as amiodarone (Cordarone, Pacerone) or disopyramide (Norpace);
· HIV or AIDS medications such as atazanavir (Reyataz), efavirenz (Sustiva, Atripla), fosamprenavir (Lexiva), or ritonavir (Norvir, Kaletra);
· medicines to treat psychiatric disorders;
· migraine headache medication such as sumatriptan (Imitrex) or zolmitriptan (Zomig);
· narcotic medicine; or
· a sedative such as alprazolam (Xanax), midazolam (Versed), or triazolam (Halcion).
