• You must not use this medicine if you have ever had an allergic reaction to an antacid.

• Ask a doctor or pharmacist till taking this medication if you have kidney disease.

• Follow the instructions on the medication label. Do not use the medicine in larger amounts or more often than recommended.

• Do not take calcium carbonate and magnesium hydroxide for longer than 14 days in a row without medical advice. Conversation with your doctor if your symptoms do not improve, or if they get worse after 2 weeks of treatment.

What is calcium carbonate and magnesium hydroxide?

• Calcium and magnesium are naturally occurring minerals that are necessary for much systems in the body. Calcium is necessary for bone formation and maintenance.

• The combination of calcium carbonate and magnesium hydroxide is used as an antacid to relieve indigestion, upset stomach, and heartburn.

• Calcium carbonate and magnesium hydroxide may also be used for purposes not listed in this medicine guide.

What must I discuss with my healthcare provider till taking calcium carbonate and magnesium hydroxide?

• You must not use this medicine if you have ever had an allergic reaction to an antacid.

• FDA pregnancy category C. It is not known whether this medicine will harm an unborn child. Do not use calcium carbonate and magnesium hydroxide without medical advice if you are pregnant.

• The chewable tablet should be chewed till you swallow it.

• Shake the oral suspension (liquid) well just till you measure a doze. Measure the liquid with a particular dose-measuring spoon or medication cup, not with a regular table spoon. If you do not have a dose-measuring device, ask your pharmacist for one.

• Do not take this medicine for longer than 14 days in a row without medical advice. Conversation with your doctor if your symptoms do not improve, or if they get worse after 2 weeks of treatment.

• Store at room temperature away from moisture and heat. Do not let the liquid form of this medication to freeze.

What happens if I miss a dose?

• Since calcium carbonate and magnesium hydroxide is taken as needed, you may not be on a dosing schedule. If you are taking the medicine regularly, take the missed doze as soon as you remember. Skip the missed doze if it is nearly time for your following scheduled doze. Do not take extra medication to create up the missed dose.

• Stop using calcium carbonate and magnesium hydroxide and call your doctor at once if you have a serious side effect such as:

· nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, loss of appetite, heighten thirst or urination;

· muscle pain or weakness, joint pain;

· confusion, feeling weary or restless; or

· slow heart course, drowsiness, feeling light-headed.

• Smaller serious side effects may include:

· diarrhea;

· constipation; or

· upset stomach.

· an antibiotic such as doxycycline (Doryx, Oracea, Periostat, Vibramycin), minocycline (Dynacin, Minocin, Solodyn), or tetracycline (Ala-Tet, Brodspec, Panmycin, Sumycin, Tetracap);
