What is guaifenesin and phenylephrine?
• There are much brands and forms of guaifenesin and phenylephrine accessible and not all brands are listed on this leaflet.
• Guaifenesin is an expectorant. It helps loosen congestion in your chest and throat, making it easier to cough out through your mouth.
• Phenylephrine is a decongestant that shrinks blood vessels in the nasal passages. Dilated blood vessels can reason nasal congestion (stuffy nose).
• Guaifenesin and phenylephrine is a combination medication used to treat stuffy nose and sinus congestion, and to reduce chest congestion caused by the general cool or flu.

• You must not use guaifenesin and phenylephrine if you are allergic to it.

· tall blood pressure, heart malady, coronary artery disease;
· diabetes;
· circulation problems;
· glaucoma;
· overactive thyroid; or
· enlarged prostate or problems with urination.

• Guaifenesin and phenylephrine may pass into breast milk and may harm a nursing child. Decongestants may also slow breast milk manufacture. Do not use this medication without medical advice if you are breast-feeding a baby.
• Artificially sweetened liquid medication may contain phenylalanine. Check the medicine label if you have phenylketonuria (PKU).
How must I take guaifenesin and phenylephrine?
• Use exactly as directed on the label, or as predesigned by your doctor. Do not use in larger or less amounts or for longer than recommended. Cough or cool medication is generally taken only for a short time before your symptoms clear up.
• Do not give this medicine to a baby younger than 4 years old. Always ask a doctor till giving cough or cool medication to a baby. Death can occur from the misuse of cough or cool medication in very young children.
• Measure liquid medication with a particular dose-measuring spoon or medication cup. If you do not have a dose-measuring device, ask your pharmacist for one.
• Do not crush, chew, interrupt, or open an extended-release tablet or capsule. Swallow it intact.
• Drink extra fluids to help loosen the congestion and lubricate your throat while you are taking this medication.
• Call your doctor if your symptoms do not improve after 7 days of treatment, or if you have a fever with a headache, cough, or skin rash.
• Store at room temperature away from moisture and heat.
What happens if I miss a dose?
• Since this medication is taken when needed, you may not be on a dosing schedule. If you are taking the medicine regularly, take the missed doze as soon as you remember. Skip the missed doze if it is nearly time for your following scheduled doze. Do not take extra medication to create up the missed dose.
What happens if I overdose?
• Search abnormal medical attention or call the Poison Help line at 1-800-222-1222.
What must I avoid while taking guaifenesin and phenylephrine?
• This medicine may impair your thinking or reactions. Be careful if you drive or do anything that requires you to be alert.
• Drinking alcohol can magnify determined side effects of guaifenesin and phenylephrine.
• Ask a doctor or pharmacist till using any another cough, cool, or allergy medication. Guaifenesin and phenylephrine are contained in much combination medicines. Taking determined commodity together can reason you to get too many of a determined drug.
What are the possible side effects of guaifenesin and phenylephrine?
• Get abnormal medical help if you have any of these signs of an allergic reaction: hives; difficult breathing; swelling of your person, lips, tongue, or throat.
• Stop using guaifenesin and phenylephrine and call your doctor at once if you have:
· quick, pounding, or uneven heartbeat; or
· severe anxiety or nervousness.
• General side effects may include:
· dry mouth, nose, or throat;
· upset stomach, loss of appetite, vomiting;
