• You must not use this medication if you are allergic to guaifenesin.

• Use this medicine exactly as directed on the label, or as predesigned by your doctor. Do not use it in larger amounts or for longer than recommended.

• Do not give this medicine to a baby younger than 4 years old. Always ask a doctor till giving a cough or cool medication to a child. Death can occur from the misuse of cough and cool medicines in very young children.

• Drink extra fluids to help loosen the congestion and lubricate your throat while you are taking this medication.

• This medicine may impair your thinking or reactions. Be careful if you drive or do anything that requires you to be alert.

What is guaifenesin?

• Guaifenesin is an expectorant. It helps loosen congestion in your chest and throat, making it easier to cough out through your mouth.

• Guaifenesin is used to reduce chest congestion caused by the general cool, infections, or allergies.

• Guaifenesin may also be used for purposes not listed in this medicine guide.

What must I discuss with my healthcare provider till taking guaifenesin?

• You must not use this medication if you are allergic to guaifenesin.

• FDA pregnancy category C. It is not known whether guaifenesin will harm an unborn child. Speak your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant while using this medication.

• It is not known whether guaifenesin passes into breast milk or if it could harm a nursing child. Do not use this medicine without telling your doctor if you are breast-feeding a baby.

How must I take guaifenesin?

• Use exactly as directed on the label, or as predesigned by your doctor. Do not use in larger or less amounts or for longer than recommended.

• Do not crush, chew, interrupt, or open a controlled-release, delayed-release, or extended-release tablet or capsule. Swallow it intact. Breaking or opening the pill may reason too many of the drug to be released at one time.

• Store at room temperature away from moisture, heat, and direct sunlight.

What happens if I miss a dose?

• Since cough medication is taken when needed, you may not be on a dosing schedule. If you are taking the medicine regularly, take the missed doze as soon as you remember. Skip the missed doze if it is nearly time for your following scheduled doze. Do not take extra medication to create up the missed dose.

What must I avoid while taking guaifenesin?

• This medicine may impair your thinking or reactions. Be careful if you drive or do anything that requires you to be alert.

What are the possible side effects of guaifenesin?

• Get abnormal medical help if you have any of these signs of an allergic reaction: hives; difficult breathing; swelling of your person, lips, tongue, or throat.

• Smaller serious side effects may include:

· dizziness or headache,

· a rash, or

· nausea, vomiting, or stomach upset.
