Do not use this medication if you have taken an MAO inhibitor in the past 14 days. A dangerous drug interaction could occur. MAO inhibitors include isocarboxazid, linezolid, phenelzine, rasagiline, selegiline, and tranylcypromine.
Chlorpheniramine is an antihistamine that reduces the effects of natural chemical histamine in the body. Histamine can manufacture symptoms of sneezing, itching, watery eyes, and runny nose.
Phenylephrine is a decongestant that shrinks blood vessels in the nasal passages. Dilated blood vessels can reason nasal congestion (stuffy nose).
Chlorpheniramine and phenylephrine is a combination medication used to treat symptoms of the general cool or seasonal allergies, including sneezing, runny or stuffy nose, and itchy, watery eyes.
Chlorpheniramine and phenylephrine may also be used for purposes not listed in this medicine guide.
You must not use this medicine if you are allergic to chlorpheniramine or phenylephrine.
Do not use this medication if you have taken an MAO inhibitor in the past 14 days. A dangerous drug interaction could occur. MAO inhibitors include isocarboxazid, linezolid, phenelzine, rasagiline, selegiline, and tranylcypromine.
Ask a doctor or pharmacist if it is safety for you to take this medication if you have:
· asthma or COPD, cough with mucus, or cough caused by smoking, emphysema, or chronic bronchitis;
· a blockage in your stomach or intestines;
· kidney or liver disease;
· tall blood pressure, heart malady, coronary artery malady, or last heart attack;
· enlarged prostate or urination problems;
· glaucoma;
· diabetes;
· epilepsy or another seizure disorder;
· pheochromocytoma (an adrenal gland tumor);
· overactive thyroid; or
· if you take potassium (Cytra, Epiklor, K-Lyte, K-Phos, Kaon, Klor-Con, Polycitra, Urocit-K).
FDA pregnancy category C. It is not known whether chlorpheniramine and phenylephrine will harm an unborn child. Do not use this medication without your doctor's advice if you are pregnant.
It is not known whether chlorpheniramine and phenylephrine passes into breast milk or if it could harm a nursing child. Antihistamines and decongestants may also slow breast milk manufacture. Do not use this medication without your doctor's advice if you are breast-feeding a baby.
Older adults may be more likely to have side effects from this medicine.
Artificially sweetened liquid cool medication may contain phenylalanine. If you have phenylketonuria (PKU), check the medicine label to see if the product contains phenylalanine.
Use exactly as directed on the label, or as predesigned by your doctor. Do not use in larger or less amounts or for longer than recommended. Cool medication is generally taken only for a short time before your symptoms clear up.
Do not give this medicine to a baby younger than 4 years old. Always ask a doctor till giving a cough or cool medication to a child. Death can occur from the misuse of cough and cool medicines in very young children.
Do not crush, chew, interrupt, or open an extended-release tablet or capsule. Swallow it intact. Breaking or opening the pill may reason too many of the drug to be released at one time.
The chewable tablet should be chewed till swallowing.
Measure liquid medicine with a particular dose-measuring spoon or medication cup, not with a regular table spoon. If you do not have a dose-measuring device, ask your pharmacist for one.
Call your doctor if your symptoms do not improve after 7 days of treatment, or if you have a fever with a headache, cough, or skin rash.
This medicine can reason unusual results with allergy skin trials. Speak any doctor who treats you that you are taking an antihistamine.
If you need surgery, speak the surgeon onward of time if you have taken a cool medication within the past little days.
Store at room temperature away from moisture and heat.
Since cool medication is taken as needed, you may not be on a dosing schedule. If you are taking the medicine regularly, take the missed doze as soon as you remember. Skip the missed doze if it is nearly time for your following scheduled doze. Do not take extra medication to create up the missed dose.

This medicine may impair your thinking or reactions. Be careful if you drive or do anything that requires you to be alert.
Drinking alcohol can magnify determined side effects of chlorpheniramine and phenylephrine.
Ask a doctor or pharmacist till using any another cool, allergy, or sleep medication. Chlorpheniramine and phenylephrine are contained in much combination medicines. Taking determined commodity together can reason you to get too many of a determined drug. Check the label to see if a medication contains an antihistamine or decongestant.
Get abnormal medical help if you have any of these signs of an allergic reaction: hives; difficulty breathing; swelling of your person, lips, tongue, or throat.
Stop using this medication and call your doctor at once if you have:
· chest pain, rapid pulse, quick or uneven heart rate;
· confusion, hallucinations, severe nervousness;
· tremor, seizure (convulsions);
· few or no urinating;
· light bruising or bleeding, unusual weakness; or
· dangerously tall blood pressure (severe headache, buzzing in your ears, anxiety, shortness of breath).
General side effects may include:
· dizziness, drowsiness, blurred vision;
· dry nose or mouth;
· nausea, stomach pain, constipation, loss of appetite;
· problems with memory or concentration; or
· feeling restless or excited (especially in children).

Taking this medication with another drugs that create you sleepy or slow your breathing can worsen these effects. Ask your doctor till taking chlorpheniramine and phenylephrine with a sleeping pill, narcotic pain medication, muscle relaxer, or medication for anxiety, depression, or seizures.
