Do not use this medicine if you have kidney malady, urination problems, or tall levels of potassium in your blood. Do not use potassium supplements or another diuretics while you are taking amiloride.
Till using this medicine, speak your doctor if you have heart or liver malady, or a breathing disorder.
Avoid drinking alcohol, which can magnify some of the side effects of amiloride.
Avoid a diet tall in salt. Too many salt will reason your body to retain water and can create this medicine smaller effective.
Do not use salt substitutes or low-sodium milk commodity that contain potassium. These commodity could reason your potassium levels to get too tall while you are taking amiloride.
Avoid becoming overheated or dehydrated during exercice and in hot weather. Follow your doctor's instructions about the type and amount of liquids you must drink. In some cases, drinking too many liquid can be as unsafe as not drinking enough.
Amiloride is a potassium-sparing diuretic (water pill) that prevents your body from absorbing too many salt and keeps your potassium levels from getting too low.
Amiloride is used to treat or prevent hypokalemia (low potassium levels in the blood).
Amiloride may also be used for another purposes not listed in this medicine guide.
Do not use this medicine if you have:
· kidney malady or are unable to urinate;
· tall potassium levels (hyperkalemia); or
· if you are taking potassium supplements, or other potassium-sparing diuretic such Moduretic, spironolactone (Aldactone, Aldactazide), or triamterene (Dyrenium, Dyazide, Maxzide).
If you have determined conditions, you may need a doze adjustment or particular trials to safely take this medicine. Till using amiloride, speak your doctor if you have:
· diabetes;
· cirrhosis or another liver disease;
· a breathing mess; or
· if you are using other diuretic.
FDA pregnancy category B. This medicine is not expected to be deleterious to an unborn child. Speak your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant during treatment.
It is not known whether amiloride passes into breast milk or if it could harm a nursing child. Do not use this medicine without telling your doctor if you are breast-feeding a baby.
Take this medicine exactly as it was predesigned for you. Do not take the medicine in larger amounts, or take it for longer than recommended by your doctor. Follow the directions on your prescription label.
Your doctor may occasionally change your doze to create certain you get the excellent results from this medication.
Take every doze with a full glass of water.
Take amiloride with food.
To be certain this medicine is not causing deleterious effects, your blood will need to be tested on a regular basis. Your kidney function may also need to be tested. It is significant that you not miss any scheduled visits to your doctor.
Amiloride can interfere with the results of a glucose tolerance test. Stop using this medicine for at least 3 days till you have this test. Speak any doctor who treats you that you are using amiloride.
Store this medicine at room temperature away from heat, easy, and moisture. Do not let the tablets to freeze.
Take the missed doze as soon as you remember. If it is nearly time for your following doze, skip the missed doze and take the medication at the following regularly scheduled time. Do not take extra medication to create up the missed dose.
Search abnormal medical attention if you think you have used too many of this medicine.
Overdose symptoms may include dizziness, thirst, feeling light-headed, slow heartbeat, or fainting.

Get abnormal medical help if you have any of these signs of an allergic reaction: hives; difficulty breathing; swelling of your person, lips, tongue, or throat.
Stop using this medicine and call your doctor at once if you have any of these serious side effects:
· numbness or tingly feeling;
· muscle pain or weakness;
· slow, quick, or uneven heartbeat;
· feeling drowsy, restless, or light-headed;
· urinating smaller than normal or not at all;
· dry mouth, heighten thirst, tiredness, nausea, vomiting;
· shallow breathing;
· tremors, confusion; or
· nausea, stomach pain, low fever, loss of appetite, dark urine, clay-colored stools, jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes).
Smaller serious side effects may include:
· headache;
· mild nausea, loss of appetite;
· gas, stomach pain; or
· skin rash.

Till taking this medicine, speak your doctor if you are using any of the next drugs:
· cyclosporine (Neoral, Sandimmune, Gengraf);
· tacrolimus (Prograf);
· lithium;
· an ACE inhibitor such as benazepril (Lotensin), captopril (Capoten), enalapril (Vasotec), lisinopril (Prinivil, Zestril), ramipril (Altace), and others; or
· indomethacin or another NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) such as aspirin, ibuprofen (Motrin, Advil), diclofenac (Voltaren), naproxen (Aleve, Naprosyn), piroxicam (Feldene), nabumetone (Relafen), etodolac (Lodine), and others.
This list is not complete and there may be another drugs that can interact with amiloride. Speak your doctor about all the prescription and over-the-counter medications you use. This includes vitamins, minerals, herbal commodity, and drugs predesigned by another doctors. Do not start using a new medicine without telling your doctor.
