You must not use this medicine if you are allergic to probenecid, or if you have uric acid kidney stones, a gout onslaught that has already started, or a blood cell mess such as anemia, or decreased white blood cells. Probenecid must not be given to a baby younger than 2 years old.
Till taking probenecid, speak your doctor if you are allergic to any drugs, or if you have kidney malady, a history of stomach ulcer, or if you have ever had kidney stones.
Drink plenty of water to prevent kidney stones while you are taking probenecid.
Probenecid may be only part of a complete program of treatment that also includes diet, another medications, and mineral supplements. Follow your doctor's instructions.
Call your doctor at once if you have worsening gout symptoms, severe pain in your side or lower back, blood in your urine, swelling, fever, pale or yellowed skin, or dark-colored urine.
Probenecid helps your body pass uric acid out through the urine, which lowers the levels of uric acid in the body.
Probenecid is used to treat gout and gouty arthritis. Probenecid is also sometimes given together with penicillin antibiotics to create them more effective.
Probenecid may also be used for another purposes not listed in this medicine guide.
You must not use this medicine if you are allergic to probenecid, or if you have:

If you have any of these conditions, you may need a doze adjustment or particular trials to safely take probenecid.
Probenecid may be deleterious to an unborn child. Speak your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant during treatment.
It is not known whether probenecid passes into breast milk or if it could harm a nursing child. Do not use this medicine without telling your doctor if you are breast-feeding a baby.
Probenecid must not be given to a baby younger than 2 years old.
Take this medicine exactly as predesigned by your doctor. Do not take it in larger amounts or for longer than recommended. Follow the directions on your prescription label.

To be certain this medicine is not causing deleterious effects, your blood or urine may need to be tested on a regular basis. Do not miss any scheduled appointments.
If you are taking probenecid together with an antibiotic, be certain to read the medicine manual or patient instructions provided with every of your medications. Do not change your doses or medicine schedule without advice from your doctor.
If you need to have any type of surgery, speak the surgeon onward of time that you are taking probenecid. This medicine may affect your body's response to anesthesia.
Store probenecid at room temperature away from moisture and heat.
Take the missed doze as soon as you remember. If it is nearly time for your following doze, wait before then to take the medication and skip the missed doze. Do not take extra medication to create up the missed dose.
Search abnormal medical attention if you think you have used too many of this medicine.
Overdose symptoms may include nausea, vomiting, or stomach upset.
Follow your doctor's instructions about any restrictions on food, beverages, or activity while you are using probenecid.
Get abnormal medical help if you have any of these signs of an allergic reaction: hives; difficulty breathing; swelling of your person, lips, tongue, or throat.
Call your doctor at once if you have a serious side effect such as:
· worsening gout symptoms;
· severe pain in your side or lower back;
· blood in your urine;
· swelling, especially in your person, stomach, ankles, or foots; or
· pale or yellowed skin, dark colored urine, fever, confusion or weakness.
Smaller serious side effects may include:
· urinating more than usual;
· mild nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite;
· headache, dizziness;
· sore gums;
· mild itching or skin rash;
· hair loss; or
· warmth, redness, or tingly feeling under your skin.

Much drugs can interact with probenecid. Adown is just a partial list. Speak your doctor if you are using:
· lorazepam (Ativan);
· methotrexate (Rheumatrex, Trexall);
· rifampin (Rifadin, Rifamate, Rimactane);
· diabetes medicine you take by mouth;
· an NSAID (nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug) such as ketoprofen (Orudis, Oruvail), indomethacin (Indocin), meclofenamate (Meclomen), or naproxen (Aleve, Anaprox, Naprosyn);
· salicylates such as aspirin, Novasal, Doan's Extra Power, Salflex, Tricosal, and others; or
· a sulfa drug such as Bactrim, Cotrim, Septra, SMX/TMP, and others.
This list is not complete and there may be another drugs that can interact with probenecid. Speak your doctor about all your prescription and over-the-counter medications, vitamins, minerals, herbal commodity, and drugs predesigned by another doctors. Do not start a new medicine without telling your doctor.
