You must not use this medicine if you are allergic to albuterol (Proventil, Ventolin), ipratropium (Atrovent), or atropine (Atreza, Lomotil, Vi-Atro, Sal-Tropine). Do not use Combivent if you are allergic to soybeans, peanuts, or another food commodity that contain soya lecithin.
Till you use this medication, speak your doctor if you have heart malady, tall blood pressure, coronary artery malady, a heart rhythm mess, seizures, diabetes, overactive thyroid, glaucoma, an enlarged prostate, urination problems, liver malady, or kidney disease.
Seek medical attention if you think this medicine is not working as well as usual.
Albuterol and ipratropium is a combination bronchodilator that relaxes muscles in the airways and increases air flow to the lungs.
Albuterol and ipratropium is used to prevent bronchospasm in people with chronic obstructive pulmonary malady (COPD) who are also using another medicines to control their condition.
Albuterol and ipratropium inhalation may also be used for purposes not listed in this medicine guide.
You must not use this medicine if you are allergic to albuterol (Proventil, Ventolin), ipratropium (Atrovent), or atropine (Atreza, Lomotil, Vi-Atro, Sal-Tropine). Do not use Combivent if you are allergic to soybeans, peanuts, or another food commodity that contain soya lecithin.
To create certain this medicine is safety for you, speak your doctor about your another medical conditions, especially:
· heart malady, tall blood pressure, coronary artery malady, or heart rhythm disorder;
· a seizure mess such as epilepsy;
· diabetes;
· overactive thyroid;
· glaucoma;
· enlarged prostate, problems with urination;
· liver or kidney malady; or
· if you are allergic to soybeans, peanuts, or another food commodity that contain soya lecithin.
FDA pregnancy category C. It is not known whether this medicine is deleterious to an unborn child. Speak your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant during treatment.
It is not known whether albuterol and ipratropium passes into breast milk or if it could harm a nursing child. You must not breast-feed while you are using this medication.
Follow the directions on your prescription label. Do not use this medication in larger or less amounts or for longer than recommended.
Overuse of this medication may magnify the risk of death. It is critical that you use only the predesigned doze of this medicine.
This medicine comes with patient instructions for safety and effective use, and directions for priming the inhaler device. Duoneb, Combivent, and Combivent Respimat have various patient instructions. Follow these directions carefully. Ask your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions.
To use the inhaler (Combivent or Combivent Respimat):
· Shake the Combivent canister vigorously for at least 10 seconds till every spray. You do not need to shake Combivent Respimat till use.
· Uncap the mouthpiece of the inhaler. Breathe out fully. Put the mouthpiece into your mouth and close your lips. Hold your eyes closed to prevent spraying any medication into your eyes. Breathe in slowly while pushing down on the canister. Keep your breath for 10 seconds, then breathe out slowly.
· If you use more than one inhalation at a time, wait at least 2 minutes till using the second inhalation.
· Carefully follow all directions for cleaning your specific inhaler device once for week.
To use the solution with a nebulizer (Duoneb):
· Open the foil pouch and remove one vial. Squeeze all of the medication out into the chamber of the nebulizer.
· Attach the mouthpiece or person mask to the drug chamber. Then, attach the drug chamber to the compressor. Sit upright in a suitable position. Seat the mouthpiece into your mouth or put the person mask on, covering your nose and mouth.
· Breathe in slowly and evenly before you have inhaled all of the medication (usually 5 to 15 minutes). The treatment is complete when no more mist is formed by the nebulizer and the drug chamber is empty.
· Clean the nebulizer after every use. Follow the cleaning directions that came with your nebulizer.
Hold track of the number of sprays you have used.
· Throw away the Combivent inhaler canister after 200 sprays.
· Throw away the Combivent Respimat inhaler canister after 3 months or 120 sprays, whichever comes first.
Seek medical attention if you think this medicine is not working as well as usual.
While using albuterol and ipratropium, you may need frequent blood trials at your doctor's office.
Use albuterol and ipratropium regularly to get the most benefit. Get your prescription refilled till you run out of medication completely.
Store at room temperature away from moisture, heat, and easy. Hold every Duoneb vial in its foil pouch before you are ready to use it. Do not store Combivent in your machine on hot days. Extreme heat can reason the medication canister to burst. Do not throw an empty canister into open flame.
Use the missed doze as soon as you remember. Skip the missed doze if it is nearly time for your following scheduled doze. Do not use extra medication to create up the missed dose.
Search abnormal medical attention or call the Poison Help line at 1-800-222-1222. An overdose of albuterol and ipratropium can be fatal. Overdose symptoms may include chest pain, quick or pounding heartbeats, extreme thirst, muscle weakness or limp feeling, severe headache, buzzing in your ears, weak pulse, fainting, or slow breathing (breathing may stop).
If this medicine gets in your eyes, rinse with water and search medical attention.
This medicine may reason blurred vision and may impair your thinking or reactions. Be careful if you drive or do anything that requires you to be alert and able to see clearly.
Get abnormal medical help if you have any of these signs of an allergic reaction: hives; difficult breathing; swelling of your person, lips, tongue, or throat.
Stop using albuterol and ipratropium and call your doctor at once if you have a serious side effect such as:
· wheezing, choking, or another breathing problems (especially after starting a new canister of this medicine);
· chest pain, pounding heartbeats or fluttering in your chest;
· dangerously tall blood pressure (severe headache, anxiety, uneven heartbeats);
· swelling of your ankles or feet;
· eye pain, or seeing halos near lights;
· painful or difficult urination; or
· low potassium (confusion, extreme thirst, heighten urination, leg discomfort, muscle weakness or limp feeling).
Another general side effects may include:
· mild headache; or
· cool symptoms such as stuffy nose, sneezing, cough, or sore throat.

Speak your doctor about all medications you use, and those you start or stop using during your treatment with albuterol and ipratropium, especially:
· bladder or urinary medicines such as darifenacin (Enablex), tolterodine (Detrol), solifenacin (Vesicare);
· a diuretic (water pill);
· heart or blood pressure medicine, such as atenolol (Tenormin, Tenoretic), metoprolol (Dutoprol, Lopressor, Toprol), propranolol (Inderal, InnoPran), and others;
· medicine for Parkinson's malady or depression;
· medicine to treat excess stomach acid, stomach ulcer, motion sickness, or irritable bowel syndrome;
· another bronchodilators such as formoterol (Foradil), ipratropium (Atrovent), isoproterenol (Isuprel), metaproterenol (Alupent, Metaprel), terbutaline (Brethine, Bricanyl), or tiotropium (Spiriva); or
· a stimulant, ADHD medicine, diet pills, or over-the-counter cool or allergy medicine.
