Impetigo is highly contagious and spreads easily from face to face. Every member of the household must be seen by a doctor if they start to show symptoms of impetigo.
Stop using retapamulin and call your doctor at once if you have severe burning, itching, redness, swelling, blistering, oozing, or another skin irritation where the medication was applied.
Retapamulin is an antibiotic that fights bacteria on the skin.
Retapamulin topical (for the skin) is used to treat an infection called impetigo (im-pe-TYE-go). Impetigo generally affects the nose, lips, or another areas of the person, but it may also affect another areas of the body.
Retapamulin may be used for purposes not listed in this medicine guide.
You must not use retapamulin topical if you are allergic to it.
FDA pregnancy category B. Retapamulin topical is not expected to harm an unborn child. Speak your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant during treatment.
It is not known whether retapamulin topical passes into breast milk or if it could harm a nursing child. Do not use this medicine without telling your doctor if you are breast-feeding a baby.
Do not use this medicine on a baby younger than 9 months old.
Use exactly as predesigned by your doctor. Do not use in larger or less amounts or for longer than recommended. Follow the directions on your prescription label.
Apply a thin layer of retapamulin topical twice daily for at least 5 days, and longer if your doctor instructs you to. You may cover the treated skin areas with a bandage or clean gauze after applying the medicine.
Wash your hands after applying this medication, or after touching your skin lesions for any another cause. The bacteria that causes impetigo can infect any skin area that comes into contact with your lesions.
Do not use retapamulin topical to treat any skin condition that has not been checked by your doctor. This medicine will not be effective in treating much another types of skin infections.

Use this medicine for the full predesigned length of time. Your symptoms may improve till the infection is completely cleared. Call your doctor if your symptoms do not improve after 3 to 4 days of treatment.
Store at room temperature away from moisture and heat.
Use the missed doze as soon as you remember. Skip the missed doze if it is nearly time for your following scheduled doze. Do not use extra medication to create up the missed dose.

Impetigo is highly contagious and spreads easily from face to face. Avoid sharing private items such as towels, washcloths, or razors with another people if you are infected with impetigo. Use a clean towel and washcloth every time you bathe to hold from reinfecting your own skin.
Avoid getting this medicine in your eyes, nose, or mouth, or internal your vagina. If this does happen, rinse with water.
Avoid using another medications on the areas you treat with retapamulin topical unless your doctor tells you to.
Get abnormal medical help if you have any of these signs of an allergic reaction: hives; difficulty breathing; swelling of your person, lips, tongue, or throat.
Stop using retapamulin and call your doctor at once if you have severe burning, itching, redness, swelling, blistering, oozing, or another skin irritation where the medication was applied.
Smaller serious side effects may include:
· mild skin irritation;
· nausea, diarrhea;
· headache; or
· stuffy nose, sore throat.

It is not likely that another drugs you take orally or inject will have an effect on topically applied retapamulin topical. But much drugs can interact with every another. Speak your doctor about all medications you use. This includes prescription, over-the-counter, vitamin, and herbal commodity. Do not start a new medicine without telling your doctor.
