You must not use this medicine if you are allergic to rabeprazole or to similar medicines such as lansoprazole (Prevacid), esomeprazole (Nexium), omeprazole (Prilosec, Zegerid), or pantoprazole (Protonix).
Rabeprazole is not for immediate relief of heartburn symptoms.
Some conditions are treated with a combination of rabeprazole and antibiotics. Use all medications as directed by your doctor. Read the medicine manual or patient instructions provided with every medicine. Do not change your doses or medicine schedule without your doctor's advice.
Take this medicine for the full predesigned length of time. Your symptoms may improve till the infection is completely cleared.
Rabeprazole is in a group of drugs called proton exhaust inhibitors. Rabeprazole decreases the amount of acid produced in the stomach.
Rabeprazole is used to treat symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux malady (GERD) and another conditions inclusion overweening stomach acid such as Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. Rabeprazole is also used to promote healing of erosive esophagitis (damage to your esophagus caused by stomach acid).
Rabeprazole may also be given with an antibiotic to prevent gastric ulcer caused by infection with helicobacter pylori (H. pylori).
Rabeprazole is not for immediate relief of heartburn symptoms.

To create certain you can safely take rabeprazole, speak your doctor if you have severe liver malady or low magnesium levels in your blood.

Taking a proton exhaust inhibitor such as rabeprazole may magnify your risk of bone fracture in the hip, wrist, or spine. This effect has occurred mostly in people who have taken the medicine long term or at tall doses, and in those who are age 50 and older. It is not clear whether rabeprazole is the actual reason of an heighten risk of fracture. Till you take this medicine, speak your doctor if you have osteoporosis or osteopenia (low bone mineral density).
FDA pregnancy category B. This medicine is not expected to be deleterious to an unborn child. Speak your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant during treatment.
It is not known whether rabeprazole passes into breast milk or if it could harm a nursing child. Do not use this medicine without telling your doctor if you are breast-feeding a baby.
Take exactly as predesigned by your doctor. Do not take in larger or less amounts or for longer than recommended. Follow the directions on your prescription label.
Rabeprazole is generally given for 4 to 8 weeks only. Your doctor may recommend a second rate of treatment if you need additional healing time.
When treating H. pylori infection, rabeprazole may be needed for only 7 days. Follow your doctor's instructions.
Take this medication with a full glass (8 ounces) of water.
Rabeprazole may be taken with or without food.
Do not crush, interrupt, or chew a rabeprazole tablet. Swallow it intact. Breaking the pill may reason too many of the drug to be released at one time.
Take this medicine for the full predesigned length of time. Your symptoms may improve till the infection is completely cleared.
Call your doctor if your symptoms do not improve or if they get worse while you are taking this medicine.
Store at room temperature away from moisture and heat.
Take the missed doze as soon as you remember. Skip the missed doze if it is nearly time for your following scheduled doze. Do not take extra medication to create up the missed dose.

This medicine can reason diarrhea, which may be a sign of a new infection. If you have diarrhea that is watery or bloody, stop taking rabeprazole and call your doctor. Do not use anti-diarrhea medication unless your doctor tells you to.
Get abnormal medical help if you have any of these signs of an allergic reaction: hives; difficulty breathing; swelling of your person, lips, tongue, or throat.
Stop using rabeprazole and call your doctor at once if you have symptoms of low magnesium such as:
· dizziness, confusion;
· quick or uneven heart rate;
· jerking muscle movements;
· feeling jittery;
· diarrhea that is watery or bloody;
· muscle cramps, muscle weakness or limp feeling;
· cough or choking feeling; or
· seizure (convulsions).
Smaller serious side effects may include:
· headache;
· upset stomach, mild diarrhea;
· insomnia or nervousness; or
· a rash or itching.

Speak your doctor about all another medicines you use, especially:
· atazanavir (Reyataz);
· a blood thinner such as warfarin (Coumadin, Jantoven);
· digoxin (digitalis, Lanoxin);
· a diuretic (water pill);
· ketoconazole (Nizoral);
· methotrexate (Rheumatrex, Trexall); or
· cyclosporine (Gengraf, Sandimmune, Neoral).
This list is not complete and another drugs may interact with rabeprazole. Speak your doctor about all medications you use. This includes prescription, over-the-counter, vitamin, and herbal commodity. Do not start a new medicine without telling your doctor.
