Fluvoxamine inhibits the
metabolism of
lansoprazole,
omeprazole and rabeprazole in some patients. Theoretically other
proton pump inhibitors will be similarly affected. Omeprazole (and therefore probably esomeprazole) increases escitalopram (and therefore probably citalopram) levels by 50%.
Monitor concurrent use for adverse effects (such as nausea, diarrhoea, dry mouth, palpitations). The manufacturers of escitalopram say that dose adjustments may be necessary, but this would seem unlikely in most patients.
