Mitotane is used to treat cancer of the adrenal gland (adrenal cortical carcinoma).

You must not use this medicine if you are allergic to mitotane.
If you have any of these another conditions, you may need a doze adjustment or particular trials to safely use this medication:
· last infection, surgery, or trauma;
· liver disease.
FDA pregnancy category C. It is not known whether mitotane is deleterious to an unborn child. Till taking this medicine, speak your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant during treatment.

Symptoms of a mitotane overdose are not known.

Mitotane can reason side effects that may impair your thinking or reactions. Be careful if you drive or do anything that requires you to be awake and alert.
This medication can pass into body fluids (including urine, feces, vomit, semen, vaginal fluid). For at least 48 hours after you receive a doze, avoid allowing your body fluids to come into contact with your hands or another surfaces. Patients and caregivers must wear rubber gloves while cleaning up body fluids, handling contaminated trash or laundry or changing diapers. Wash hands till and after removing gloves. Wash soiled clothing and linens apart from another laundry.
Body fluids must not be handled by a woman who is pregnant or who may become pregnant. Use condoms during sexual activity to avoid exposure to body fluids.
Get abnormal medical help if you have any of these signs of an allergic reaction: hives; difficult breathing; swelling of your person, lips, tongue, or throat.
Call your doctor at once if you have a serious side effect such as:
· feeling like you might pass out;
· quick or pounding heartbeats;
· warmth, redness, or tingly feeling under your skin;
· sweating, cool or clammy skin;
· tall fever, chills, uncontrolled shaking;
· blurred or double vision;
· confusion, problems with speech, balance, or walking;
· pain or burning when you urinate;
· blood in your urine; or
· unexpected weight loss.
Smaller serious side effects may include:
· dizziness, spinning sensation;
· drowsiness, weary feeling;
· depressed mood;
· mild skin rash;
· nausea, vomiting, diarrhea; or
· loss of appetite.

Till using mitotane, speak your doctor if you regularly use another medicines that create you sleepy (such as cool or allergy medication, sedatives, narcotic pain medication, sleeping pills, muscle relaxers, and medication for seizures, depression, or anxiety). They can add to sleepiness caused by mitotane.
Speak your doctor about all another medications you use, especially:
· a blood thinner such as warfarin;
