What is the most significant information I must know about granisetron?
• You must not use this medicine if you are allergic to granisetron or to similar medicines such as dolasetron (Anzemet), ondansetron (Zofran), or palonosetron (Aloxi).
• Till taking granisetron, speak your doctor if you have liver malady, a heart rhythm mess, an electrolyte imbalance (such as low levels of potassium or magnesium in your blood), or a private or family history of Long QT syndrome.
• Granisetron is generally started up to 1 hour till chemotherapy. Speak your doctor if you forget to take the medicine within the specified amount of time till your procedure.
What is granisetron?
• Granisetron blocks the actions of chemicals in the body that can trigger nausea and vomiting.
• Granisetron is used to prevent nausea and vomiting that may be caused by medication to treat cancer (chemotherapy or radiation).
• Granisetron may be used for another purposes not listed in this medicine guide.
What must I discuss with my health care provider till taking granisetron?
• You must not use this medicine if you are allergic to granisetron, to similar medicines such as dolasetron (Anzemet), ondansetron (Zofran), or palonosetron (Aloxi).
• If you have any of these another conditions, you may need a doze adjustment or particular trials to safely take granisetron:
· liver disease;
· a heart rhythm disorder;
· an electrolyte imbalance (such as low levels of potassium or magnesium in your blood); or
· a private or family history of Long QT syndrome.
• FDA pregnancy category B. This medicine is not expected to be deleterious to an unborn child. Speak your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant during treatment.
• It is not known whether granisetron passes into breast milk or if it could harm a nursing child. Do not use this medicine without telling your doctor if you are breast-feeding a baby.
How must I take granisetron?
• Take this medicine exactly as it was predesigned for you. Do not take the medicine in larger amounts, or take it for longer than recommended by your doctor. Follow the directions on your prescription label.
• Granisetron is generally started up to 1 hour till chemotherapy. Follow your doctor's instructions.
• Measure the liquid form of granisetron with a particular dose-measuring spoon or cup, not a regular table spoon. If you do not have a dose-measuring device, ask your pharmacist for one.
• Store granisetron at room temperature away from moisture and heat.
What happens if I miss a dose?
• Speak your doctor if you forget to take your doze within 1 hour till chemotherapy. Do not take extra medication to create up the missed dose.
What happens if I overdose?
• Search abnormal medical attention if you think you have received too many of this medicine.
• Overdose symptoms may include headache.
What must I avoid while taking granisetron?
• Follow your doctor's instructions about any restrictions on food, beverages, or activity.
What are the possible side effects of granisetron?
• Get abnormal medical help if you have any of these signs of an allergic reaction: hives; difficulty breathing; swelling of your person, lips, tongue, or throat.
• Call your doctor at once if you have a serious side effect such as:
· quick or pounding heartbeats;
· fever, body aches, flu symptoms; or
· light bruising or bleeding; unusual weakness.
• Smaller serious side effects may include:
· headache;
· stomach pain or upset, loss of appetite;
· diarrhea or constipation;
· dizziness; or
· sleep problems (insomnia);
