The gastrointestinal absorption of ketoconazole and itraconazole capsules is markedly reduced by antacids. Advise patients to take antacids not less than 2 to 3 hours before or after ketoconazole and not less than 1 hour before and 2 hours after itraconazole capsules. Monitor the effects to confirm that these azoles are effective.
