The
metabolism of
venlafaxine to its active
metabolite O-desmethylvenlafaxine is reduced in the presence of
terbinafine. However, the combined AUC of
venlafaxine and its
metabolite is only raised by a modest 22%.
Until more is known, it may be prudent to be alert for any indication of increased
venlafaxine adverse effects (e.g. nausea, insomnia, dry mouth) in patients also taking
terbinafine.
