CYP3A4 is not the main
enzyme involved in the
metabolism of
pravastatin, or
rosuvastatin, and so no interaction would generally be expected. However, rare cases of rhabdomyolysis have been reported in patients given one of these
statins with an azole.
Because of the potentially serious reactions that can result, any patient given
pravastatin or
rosuvastatin with an azole should be told to report any unexplained muscle pain, tenderness or weakness.
