The risk of faecal blood loss,
gastrointestinal haemorrhage and other bleeding is increased by concurrent use of clopidogrel and
NSAIDs.
Ticlopidine is expected to interact similarly.
The manufacturers advise caution if
NSAIDs and
ticlopidine are given together. Consider giving additional
gastrointestinal prophylaxis such as a proton pump inhibitor in patients at risk of
gastrointestinal ulceration and bleeding.
