Miconazole and zinc oxide topical is used to treat diaper rash with yeast infection (candidiasis). This medication must not be used to prevent diaper rash.
Call your doctor at once if your baby has severe discomfort or redness of treated skin areas.
This medication will not be effective without frequent diaper changes.
Miconazole is an antifungal medicine that fights infections caused by fungus.
Zinc oxide is a mineral.
Miconazole and zinc oxide topical (for the skin) is used to treat diaper rash with yeast infection (candidiasis) in children and babies who are at least 4 weeks old. This medication must not be used to prevent diaper rash.
Miconazole and zinc oxide topical may also be used for purposes not listed in this medicine guide.
Your baby must not be treated with this medication if the baby is allergic to miconazole or zinc.
Miconazole and zinc oxide topical is not for use on a baby who has a weak immune system caused by malady or by using determined medicines.
Your doctor will perform lab trials to create certain your baby has a yeast infection. Miconazole and zinc oxide topical is not for use on common diaper rash without a related yeast infection.
Do not use this medicine on other baby, even if they have similar symptoms. It is for use only on diaper rash with related yeast infection that has been confirmed by lab tests.
Do not use on a baby younger than 4 weeks old.
Follow all directions on your prescription label. Do not use this medication in larger or less amounts or for longer than recommended.
Use this medication every time you change a diaper. Gently clean the diaper area and pat dry with a soft towel. Apply a thin layer of medication but do not rub it in to the skin.
This medicine comes with patient instructions for safety and effective use. Follow these directions carefully. Ask your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions.
Wash your hands after applying the medicine.
Miconazole and zinc topical will not be effective without frequent diaper changes. To excellent treat your child's condition, change diapers as soon as they become wet or soiled. Hold the diaper area clean and dry.
Use this medicine for the full predesigned length of time. Your child's symptoms may improve till the infection is completely cleared.
Call your doctor if your child's symptoms do not improve, or if they get worse.
Do not use this medication to prevent diaper rash or you may magnify your child's risk of infection that is resistant to antibiotics.
Store at room temperature away from moisture and heat. Hold the pipe tightly closed when not in use.
Since miconazole and zinc oxide topical is used with every diaper change, you are not likely to miss a doze. Using extra ointment to create up a missed doze will not create the medicine more effective.
An overdose of miconazole and zinc oxide topical is not expected to be dangerous. Search abnormal medical attention or call the Poison Help line at 1-800-222-1222 if anyone has accidentally swallowed the medication.
Avoid using scented or perfumed soaps or lotions to clean the diaper area.
If this medicine gets in your child's eyes, rinse with water and call the doctor at once.
Avoid getting this medicine in the mouth or vagina.
Get abnormal medical help if your baby has any of these signs of an allergic reaction: hives; difficult breathing; swelling of your person, lips, tongue, or throat.
Call your doctor at once if your baby has severe discomfort or redness of treated skin areas.
General side effects may include dryness or peeling of treated skin.
