The clearance of
mexiletine is increased by
rifampicin. The
mexiletine AUC was
reduced by 40% in one study.
It seems likely that the fall in
mexiletine levels will be clinically important in some
individuals. Monitor for
mexiletine efficacy, and where possible monitor
mexiletine levels. Raise the dosage if necessary.
