Case reports describe
serotonin syndrome, in patients taking
SSRIs with
metoclopramide. Extrapyramidal
symptoms have occurred in patients given fluox- etine,
fluvoxamine or sertraline with
metoclopramide.
Information seems to be limited to these reports, but they highlight the fact that care should be taken if two drugs with the potential to cause the same adverse effects are used together. Some monitoring for increased adverse effects would be advisable if an SSRI is taken with
metoclopramide.
