What is the most significant information I must know about menthol topical?

• You must not use this medicine if you are allergic to menthol.

Menthol topical must not be given to a baby younger than 5 years old.

• Ask a doctor or pharmacist if it is safety for you to use this medication if you have a cough with mucus or a cough caused by smoking, emphysema, or chronic bronchitis.

• Do not use menthol topical without medical advice if you are pregnant or breast-feeding, or if you have a sore throat with fever, headache, swelling, skin rash, or nausea and vomiting.

• Stop using and call your doctor if you have a cough that does not improve after 7 days of treatment.

What is menthol topical?

• Menthol is a stuff that occurs naturally in mint plants. Medicinal menthol is either manmade or made from the extracts of mint oil. Menthol provides a cooling sensation when applied to the skin or another tissues (such as the tongue, gums, or internal the cheeks).

Menthol topical oral mucous membrane (inside the mouth) is used to treat minor sore throat pain, or mouth irritation caused by a canker sore.

Menthol topical may also be used for purposes not listed in this medicine guide.

What must I discuss with my healthcare provider till using menthol topical?

• You must not use this medicine if you are allergic to menthol.

• Ask a doctor or pharmacist if it is safety for you to take this medication if you have another medical conditions, especially:

· cough with mucus;

· cough caused by smoking, emphysema, or chronic bronchitis; or

· a sore throat with fever, headache, swelling, skin rash, or nausea and vomiting.

• It is not known whether menthol topical will harm an unborn child. Do not use this medication without medical advice if you are pregnant.

• It is not known whether menthol topical passes into breast milk or if it could harm a nursing child. Do not use this medication without medical advice if you are breast-feeding a baby.

Menthol topical must not be given to a baby younger than 5 years old.

• A menthol lozenge may contain glucose (sugar). Conversation to your doctor till using this medication if you have diabetes.

How must I use menthol topical?

• Use exactly as directed on the label, or as predesigned by your doctor. Do not use in larger or less amounts or for longer than recommended.

• Do not swallow the menthol lozenge intact. Let it to dissolve in your mouth without chewing.

• Use a new lozenge each 2 hours or as needed.

Call your doctor if your sore throat is severe or continues for longer than 2 days, especially if you also have a fever, headache, skin rash, swelling, or nausea and vomiting.

• Stop using and call your doctor if you have a cough that does not improve after 7 days of treatment.

• Store at room temperature away from moisture and heat.

What happens if I miss a dose?

• Since menthol topical is used as needed, you may not be on a dosing schedule. If you are taking the medicine regularly, take the missed doze as soon as you remember. Skip the missed doze if it is nearly time for your following scheduled doze. Do not take extra medication to create up the missed dose.

What happens if I overdose?

• Search abnormal medical attention or call the Poison Help line at 1-800-222-1222.

What must I avoid while taking menthol topical?

• Follow your doctor's instructions about any restrictions on food, beverages, or activity.

What are the possible side effects of menthol topical?

• Get abnormal medical help if you have any of these signs of an allergic reaction: hives; difficult breathing; swelling of your person, lips, tongue, or throat.

• Smaller serious side effects are more likely, and you may have none at all.
