MACROLIDES AND THEOPHYLLINE - ERYTHROMYCIN

Theophylline levels can be increased by erythromycin and toxicity may develop. The onset may be delayed for 2 to 7 days. Erythromycin levels may be reduced by theophylline.
Monitor theophylline levels after 48 hours and adjust the dose accordingly. Monitor the effects of erythromycin to ensure that they are adequate.
