The concurrent use of a tricyclic antidepressant and
lithium can be beneficial in some patients. However, some patients may rarely develop adverse effects, a few of them severe. Cases of neurotoxicity,
serotonin syndrome and neuroleptic malignant
syndrome have been reported.
