The use of an SSRI is often beneficial in patients with Parkinson's disease taking
levodopa. However, sometimes parkinsonian
symptoms are worsened.
Although the information is limited, it seems that in some cases parkinsonism can be worsened by
SSRIs. Concurrent use is valuable and need not be avoided, but monitor the outcome and withdraw the SSRI if necessary.
