Therapeutic doses of
ferrous sulfate (105 mg or 210 mg from modified-release tablets) did not alter the
pharmacokinetics of
mycophenolate in two studies. However, one study found that a single 1050-mg dose of
ferrous sulfate (210 mg of elemental iron) reduced the AUC and maximum levels of
mycophenolate by more than 90%. Other
iron compounds would be expected to interact similarly.
No action needed with usual therapeutic doses of
iron.
