The pressor effects of
inotropes and
vasopressors with indirect sympathomimetic actions, such as adrenaline (
epinephrine), isoprenaline (isoproterenol), noradrenaline (norepinephrine) and methoxamine may be unchanged or only moderately increased in patients taking
MAOIs. The increase may be somewhat greater in those who show a significant hypotensive response to the MAOI.
No immediate action needed, but bear these potential moderate reactions in mind if using the combination.
