Cimetidine can increase
procainamide levels by more than 50%, which may lead to
procainamide toxicity.
Patients, particularly the elderly, should be closely monitored for signs of
procainamide toxicity, and a dose reduction should be considered. Ranitidine
and
famotidine appear to interact only minimally or not at all.
