Isolated cases of rhabdomyolysis have been described in patients given atorvastatin or
simvastatin with
fusidic acid.
Fusidic acid was also a possible contributing factor in another case.
The general significance of this interaction is unclear. Patients given
statins should be counselled regarding myopathy (e.g. report any unexplained muscle pain, tenderness or weakness). Reinforce this if
fusidic acid is given.
