If
folic acid supplements are given to treat folate deficiency, which can be caused by the use of
phenobarbital or
primidone, the
serum antiepileptic levels may fall, leading to decreased seizure
control in some patients.
Monitor
phenobarbital levels and adjust the dose accordingly.
