Three case reports describe myopathy or rhabdomyolysis in patients given 
colchicine and 
fluvastatin, 
pravastatin or 
simvastatin. It seems possible that this reaction could occur with 
colchicine and any statin. 
 Although this interaction is rare it is serious. Given the evidence available it seems likely to occur with all 
statins, although this has not been clearly demonstrated. All patients taking 
statins should be warned about the 
symptoms of myopathy and told to report muscle pain or weakness. It would be prudent to reinforce this advice if they are given 
colchicine.
