Case reports suggest that the current use of
fibrates and
colchicine can result in rhabdomyolysis or neuromyopathy.
Information is limited, although rhabdomyolysis is associated with both
colchicine and the
fibrates. Suspect this interaction in any patient presenting with muscle pain or a raised
creatinine kinase level taking these drugs.
