CO-ARTEMETHER AND FOOD

Food, especially high-fat food (including soya milk), markedly increases the absorp- tion of both lumefantrine and artemether.
As soon as patients can tolerate food, co-artemether should be taken with food to increase absorption. Patients who remain averse to food during treatment should be closely monitored since they may be at greater risk of recrudescence (reappearance of the disease after a period of inactivity).
