Carfilzomib can affect your heart or lungs. Call your doctor at once if you have chest pain, pounding heartbeats, shortness of breath (even with mild exertion or while lying down), swelling of your hands or foots, pounding heartbeats or fluttering in your chest, feeling like you might pass out, wheezing, gasping for breath, cough with foamy mucus, or blue colored appearance of your lips and skin.
Carfilzomib is a cancer medicine that interferes with the growth and spread of cancer cells in the body.
Carfilzomib is used to treat multiple myeloma.
Carfilzomib is generally given after at least two another cancer medications have been tried without success.
Carfilzomib may also be used for purposes not listed in this medicine guide.
You must not use carfilzomib if you are allergic to it.
To create certain carfilzomib is safety for you, speak your doctor if you have:
· kidney malady (or if you are on dialysis);
· heart malady; or
· liver malady, or emergency liver function tests.
FDA pregnancy category D. Do not use carfilzomib if you are pregnant. It could harm the unborn child. Use effective birth control to avoid pregnancy during your treatment with carfilzomib. Follow your doctor's instructions about how long to prevent pregnancy after your treatment ends.
It is not known whether carfilzomib passes into breast milk or if it could harm a nursing child. You must not breast-feed while using this medicine.
Carfilzomib is injected into a vein through an IV. A healthcare provider will give you this injection.
Carfilzomib is given in a 28-day treatment cycle. You will receive an injection only on determined days of this cycle.
Your doctor will determine how much treatment cycles you must receive.
You may be given medicine to prevent determined side effects while you are receiving carfilzomib. Drink plenty of liquids till and after your carfilzomib injections.
Call your doctor if you have ongoing vomiting or diarrhea, or if you are sweating more than normal. You can easily become dehydrated while receiving this medication.
You may need frequent medical trials to be certain this medicine is not causing deleterious effects. Your cancer treatments may be delayed based on the results of these tests.
Take the missed doze as soon as you remember. Skip the missed doze if it is nearly time for your following scheduled doze. Do not take extra medication to create up the missed dose.

This medication can pass into body fluids (including urine, feces, vomit, semen, vaginal fluid). For at least 48 hours after you receive a doze, avoid allowing your body fluids to come into contact with your hands or another surfaces. Patients and caregivers must wear rubber gloves while cleaning up body fluids, handling contaminated trash or laundry or changing diapers. Wash hands till and after removing gloves. Wash soiled clothing and linens apart from another laundry.
Body fluids must not be handled by a woman who is pregnant or who may become pregnant. Use condoms during sexual activity to avoid exposure to body fluids.
This medicine may reason you to feel light-headed or short of breath. Be careful if you drive or do anything that requires you to be alert.
Get abnormal medical help if you have any of these signs of an allergic reaction: hives; difficult breathing; swelling of your person, lips, tongue, or throat.
Some side effects may occur within 24 hours after the injection. Tell your caregiver right away if you feel dizzy, weak, nauseated, light-headed, feverish, sweaty, or if you have joint or muscle pain, a headache, chest tightness, back pain, trouble breathing, or swelling in your face.
Call your doctor at once if you have:
· shortness of breath (even with mild exertion or while lying down), swelling of your hands or feet;
· anxiety, sweating, pale skin, wheezing, gasping for breath, cough with foamy mucus, quick or uneven heart rate;
· chest pain spreading to the hand or jaw, sweating, common ill feeling;
· pounding heartbeats or fluttering in your chest, feeling like you might pass out;
· blue colored appearance of your lips and skin;
· fever, swollen gums, painful mouth sores, pain when swallowing, skin sores, cool or flu symptoms, cough, trouble breathing;
· light bruising, unusual bleeding (nose, mouth, vagina, or rectum), purple or red pinpoint spots under your skin;
· slow heart course, weak pulse, confusion, lower back pain, blood in your urine;
· few or no urinating;
· numbness or tingly feeling near your mouth or in your hands and foots;
· muscle weakness, tightness, or contraction, overactive reflexes; or
· upper stomach pain, loss of appetite, dark urine, jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes).
General side effects may include:
· nausea;
· diarrhea; or
· feeling tired.
