Verapamil reduces the clearance of
quinidine and in one patient the
serum quinidine levels doubled and
quinidine toxicity developed. Acute hypotension has also been seen in 3 patients taking
quinidine with
intravenous verapamil.
A reduction in the dosage of
quinidine (of up to 50%) may be needed to avoid
toxicity.
