Bleomycin is used to treat determined cancers, Hodgkin's malady, non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, or malignant pleural effusion.
To be certain this medicine is not causing deleterious effects on your lungs, you may need to have chest X-rays or another lung function trials on a regular basis. Do not miss any follow-up visits to your doctor.
Call your doctor at once if you have fever, chills, mouth sores, sudden chest pain, shortness of breath, weakness, or severe skin rash.

Bleomycin is a cancer medicine that interferes with the growth and spread of cancer cells in the body.
Bleomycin is used to treat squamous cell carcinoma, a skin cancer that can affect the mouth, throat, nose and sinuses, penis, vagina, cervix, and another. Bleomycin is also used to treat Hodgkin's malady and non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, testicular cancer, and malignant pleural effusion (a build-up of fluid in the outer tissues of the lungs, caused by determined types of cancer).
Bleomycin treats only the symptoms of prostate cancer but does not treat the cancer itself.
Bleomycin may also be used for purposes not listed in this medicine guide.
You must not receive bleomycin if you have ever had an allergic reaction to it.
To create certain you can safely receive bleomycin, speak your doctor if you have any of these another conditions:
· lung malady or a breathing disorder;
· kidney malady; or
· liver disease.
FDA pregnancy category D. Do not use bleomycin if you are pregnant. It could harm the unborn child. Use effective birth control, and speak your doctor if you become pregnant during treatment.
It is not known whether bleomycin passes into breast milk or if it could harm a nursing child. Do not use this medicine without telling your doctor if you are breast-feeding a baby.
Bleomycin is given as an injection through a needle placed into a vein or muscle, or as a shot given under the skin. When treating pleural effusion, bleomycin is given through a chest pipe. You will receive this injection in a clinic or hospital setting.
Bleomycin is generally given once or twice for week, depending on the condition being treated. Follow your doctor's instructions.

Since this medicine is given by a healthcare professional in a medical setting, an overdose is unlikely to occur.
This medication can pass into body fluids (including urine, feces, vomit, semen, vaginal fluid). For at least 48 hours after you receive a doze, avoid allowing your body fluids to come into contact with your hands or another surfaces. Patients and caregivers must wear rubber gloves while cleaning up body fluids, handling contaminated trash or laundry or changing diapers. Wash hands till and after removing gloves. Wash soiled clothing and linens apart from another laundry.
Body fluids must not be handled by a woman who is pregnant or who may become pregnant. Use condoms during sexual activity to avoid exposure to body fluids.
Get abnormal medical help if you have any of these signs of an allergic reaction: hives; difficult breathing; swelling of your person, lips, tongue, or throat.
Call your doctor at once if you have:
· fever or chills;
· sudden chest pain or discomfort, wheezing, dry cough or hack;
· shortness of breath;
· confusion, feeling weak or weary, loss of appetite, rapid weight loss;
· a light-headed feeling, feeling like you might pass out;
· white patches or sores internal your mouth or on your lips;
· severe redness, itching, rash, blistering, or tenderness of your skin; or
· unusual hardening or thickening of your skin.
General side effects may include:
· dark streaks or discoloring on your skin;
· fingernail or toenail changes;
· temporary hair loss;
· mild itching;
· vomiting;
· pain around your tumor; or
· redness, warmth, itching, or swelling near the IV needle.
