What is the most significant information I must know about auranofin?

• You must not use this medicine if you have ever had a severe reaction to gold therapy that affected your skin, lungs, bone marrow, blood cells, or your stomach or intestines.

Auranofin will not reverse any cartilage or joint hurt that has already occurred in your body.

What must I discuss with my healthcare provider till taking auranofin?

• You must not use this medicine if you are allergic to auranofin, or if you have ever had any of these medical problems caused by using gold therapy:

· an allergic skin reaction;

· stomach or intestinal problems;

· a breathing disorder;

· a bone marrow mess; or

· a severe blood cell disorder.

• If you have any of these another conditions, you may need a doze adjustment or particular trials to safely use this medication:

· a bone marrow mess or weak immune system;

· kidney disease;

· liver malady; or

· inflammatory bowel disease.

• FDA pregnancy category C. It is not known whether auranofin is deleterious to an unborn child. Till taking this medicine, speak your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant during treatment.

• It is not known whether auranofin passes into breast milk or if it could harm a nursing child. Do not use this medicine without telling your doctor if you are breast-feeding a baby.

How must I take auranofin?

• Take this medicine exactly as predesigned by your doctor. Do not take it in larger amounts or for longer than recommended. Follow the directions on your prescription label.

• Your doctor may occasionally change your doze to create certain you get the excellent results from this medication.

• Take this medication with a full glass of water.

What happens if I miss a dose?

• Take the missed doze as soon as you remember. If it is nearly time for your following doze, wait before then to take the medication and skip the missed doze. Do not take extra medication to create up the missed dose.

What happens if I overdose?

• Search abnormal medical attention if you think you have used too many of this medicine.

• Symptoms of an auranofin overdose are not known.

What must I avoid while taking auranofin?

• Avoid being around people who have colds, the flu, or another contagious illnesses. Contact your doctor at once if you develop signs of infection.

• Avoid exposure to sunlight, sunlamps, or tanning beds. Auranofin can create your skin more sensitive to sunlight, and a sunburn may result. Wear protective clothing and use sunscreen (SPF 15 or higher) when you are outdoors.

What are the possible side effects of auranofin?

• Get abnormal medical help if you have any of these signs of an allergic reaction: hives; difficult breathing; swelling of your person, lips, tongue, or throat.

• Stop taking this medicine and call your doctor at once if you have a serious side effect such as:

· itching or skin rash;

· white patches or sores internal your mouth or on your lips;

· pain or swelling in your gums or tongue, metallic taste in your mouth;

· severe or ongoing diarrhea;

· severe nausea, vomiting, stomach cramps;

· pale skin, light bruising or bleeding;

· blood in your urine;

· weakness or fainting;

· black, bloody, or tarry stools; or

· coughing up blood or vomit that looks like coffee grounds.

• Smaller serious side effects may include:

· mild stomach pain or upset;

· gas, bloating; or

· loss of appetite.

What another drugs will affect auranofin?

• Speak your doctor about all another medications you use, especially:

· gold injections;

· hydroxychloroquine (Plaquenil);

· penicillamine (Cuprimine, Depen);

· phenytoin (Dilantin);

· tall doses of steroid medicine (prednisone and others); or

· drugs that weaken your immune system, such as cyclophosphamide (Cytoxan, Neosar), azathioprine, methotrexate (Rheumatrex, Trexall), and others.

• This list is not complete and there may be another drugs that can interact with auranofin. Speak your doctor about all your prescription and over-the-counter medications, vitamins, minerals, herbal commodity, and drugs predesigned by another doctors. Do not start a new medicine without telling your doctor.
