Cimetidine appears to reduce the clearance of
metformin, and may have contributed to a case of metformin-associated lactic acidosis.
It has been suggested that the dosage of
metformin may need to be reduced if
cimetidine is used, bearing in mind the possibility of lactic acidosis if levels become too high.
