An aluminium/magnesium hydroxide antacid reduced the AUC of
mycophenolate by about 20% in one study, but the
clinical relevance of this is uncertain.
The US manufacturer says that aluminium/magnesium
antacids can be used in patients taking mycophenolate, but that they should not be given simultaneously. With many other antacid interactions, a 2 to 3 hour separation is usually sufficient to avoid an interaction.
