What is the most significant information I must know about anidulafungin?

• You must not use this medicine if you are allergic to anidulafungin, caspofungin (Cancidas), micafungin (Mycamine), or similar antifungal medicines.

• Till using anidulafungin, speak your doctor if you have liver disease.

• There may be another drugs that can interact with anidulafungin. Speak your doctor about all medications you use. This includes prescription, over-the-counter, vitamin, and herbal commodity. Do not start a new medicine without telling your doctor.

• Use this medicine for the full predesigned length of time. Your symptoms may improve till the infection is completely cleared. Skipping doses may also magnify your risk of further infection that is resistant to antibiotics. Anidulafungin will not treat a viral infection such as the general cool or flu.

What is anidulafungin?

Anidulafungin is an antifungal antibiotic that fights infections caused by fungus.

Anidulafungin treats candida (yeast) infections in the blood, or in the stomach or esophagus.

Anidulafungin may also be used for purposes not listed in this medicine guide.

What must I discuss with my health care provider till using anidulafungin?

• You must not use this medicine if you are allergic to anidulafungin, caspofungin (Cancidas), micafungin (Mycamine), or similar antifungal medicines.

• To create certain you can safely use anidulafungin, speak your doctor if you have liver disease.

• FDA pregnancy category C. It is not known whether anidulafungin will harm an unborn child. Speak your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant while using this medication.

• It is not known whether anidulafungin passes into breast milk or if it could harm a nursing child. Do not use this medicine without telling your doctor if you are breast-feeding a baby.

How is anidulafungin given?

• Use exactly as predesigned by your doctor. Do not use in larger or less amounts or for longer than recommended. Follow the directions on your prescription label.

Anidulafungin is injected into a vein through an IV. You may be shown how to use an IV at house. Do not self-inject this medication if you do not fully understand how to give the injection and properly dispose of used needles, IV tubing, and another items used to inject the medicine.

Anidulafungin is a powder medication that should be mixed with a liquid (diluent) till using it. If you are using the injections at house, be certain you understand how to properly mix and store the medication.

• Use a disposable needle only once. Throw away used needles in a puncture-proof container (ask your pharmacist where you can get one and how to dispose of it). Hold this container out of the reach of children and pets.

• Use this medicine for the full predesigned length of time. Your symptoms may improve till the infection is completely cleared. Skipping doses may also magnify your risk of further infection that is resistant to antibiotics. Anidulafungin will not treat a viral infection such as the general cool or flu.

• Store unmixed medication in the refrigerator, do not freeze.

• After mixing anidulafungin with a diluent, store in the refrigerator and use it within 1 hour. Do not freeze.

What happens if I miss a dose?

• Use the missed doze as soon as you remember. Skip the missed doze if it is nearly time for your following scheduled doze. Do not use extra medication to create up the missed dose.

What happens if I overdose?

• Search abnormal medical attention or call the Poison Help line at 1-800-222-1222.

What must I avoid while using anidulafungin?

• Follow your doctor's instructions about any restrictions on food, beverages, or activity.

What are the possible side effects of anidulafungin?

• Get abnormal medical help if you have any of these signs of an allergic reaction: hives; difficult breathing; swelling of your person, lips, tongue, or throat.

• Stop using anidulafungin and call your doctor at once if you have a serious side effect such as:

· bronchospasm (wheezing, chest tightness, trouble breathing);

· fever, chills, body aches, flu symptoms, sores in your mouth and throat;

· nausea, upper stomach pain, itching, loss of appetite, dark urine, clay-colored stools, jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes); or

· low potassium (confusion, uneven heart course, extreme thirst, heighten urination, leg discomfort, muscle weakness or limp feeling).

• Smaller serious side effects may include:

· hot flashes;

· diarrhea or constipation;

· nausea, vomiting; or

· pain, swelling, or irritation where the medication was injected.
