No significant interaction has been seen between
digoxin and most
ACE inhibitors. Some studies have found that
serum digoxin levels rise by about 20% or more if
captopril is used, but others have found no significant changes. It has been suggested that any interaction is likely to occur only in those patients who have pre-existing
A renalimpairment.
No action usually needed. In patients with
renal impairment given
digoxin and
captopril it may be prudent to be alert for increased
digoxin effects (e.g. bradycardia).
